Jean-Michel De Smedt
From a very young age, he demonstrated two strong
traits in his personality; he was a first aider in the scouts and he
started learning music from the age of five. He developed these
interests studying in the Conservatory and at medical school. He has
been
practicing medicine for 25 years and enthusiastically aims for the most
humanist possible approach.
This is how he ended up, by chance, coming to this prison and deciding to return again, refusing to abandon these forgotten people.

Mahalia De Smedt
Passionate about social entrepreneurship, Mahalia
took part in numerous study groups, organised various events and took
part in publishing various journals. 1Her aim
was to address two of her passions at the same time - humanitarian work
and protection of the environment. This is what she aims to do through
this organisation.

Chafik El Omari
Having worked as a volunteer from a young age (in
homework clubs for children with academic problems, for example)
Chafik never stopped fighting against social injustices. Immediately
after graduating in Economics, he undertook a traineeship in the United
Nations, where he focussed heavily on problems of southern countries.
Since then, he was worked through the association for effective
development cooperation.

Thomas, Gaston, Christian
(and all those not on the photo…)
Our local team, which keeps us informed about the
day
to day development of what we are working on together. It's thanks to
them (and the religious staff working in the prison) that we can
maintain the follow-up of our projects and how we can better define how
we can adapt ourselves to the reality on the ground in Africa.
